A Tutorial Academic Council D.26.217.01 functions in the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine. It accomplishes certification of the higher qualification scientific brainpower, accepts to consideration and conducts defend of the doctoral thesis and Ph.D. thesis on speciality 02.00.03 – organic chemistry and 02.00.08 – organo-element compounds chemistry.
Training of the scientific brainpower of higher qualification always was the priority goal of the Institute for its 70-year history. After the World War II and up to 1939 defending of the thesis was conducted by a Joint Academic Council of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and Institute of Organic Chemistry of the AS of Ukraine, in 1953-1957 this Council was headed by the Director of the Institute Academician A.I.Kiprianov. In 1957 – 1963 the Joint Academic Council was headed by Academician Yu.K.Delimarskii. The most famous chemists such as Academicians A.I.Kiprianov, A.I.Brodskii, E.A.Shilov, A.M.Babko, A.V.Dumanskii, L.A.Kulskii; Corresponding Members of the AS E.S.Burkser, O.V.Golovin, A.V.Kirsanov, V.A.Izvekov, F.D.Ovcharenko, Profeccors B.F.Markov, K.A.Kornev, P.S.Pelkis, M.M.Gratsianskii were the members of this Council.
Since January 23, 1963 the Joint Academic Council of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and Institute of Organic Chemistry of the AS of Ukraine started to function under leadership of the Director of the Institute Academician A.V.Kirsanov. Academicians A.I.Kiprianov, E.A.Shilov, V.S.Gutyria, Corresponding Member of the UkrSSr AS K.A.Kornev, Doctors of chemistry P.S.Pelkis, Yu.S.Rosum, S.B.Serebrianyi, F.S.Stepanov, S.V.Zavgorodnii, L.K.Mushkalo, V.E.Petrunkin, V.Ya.Pochinok, Candidates of Science I.V.Smirnov-Zamkov (Academic secretary), V.M.Zubarovskii, V.M.Cherkasov, S.N.Solodushenkov, A.A.Yasnikov, L.M.Yagupolskii, A.A.Svischuk, V.G.Chernetskii were the Members of this Council.
Academician A.V.Kirsanov headed the Council since 1992. Academician L.M.Markovskii headed the Council since 1992 till 1998. Prof. A.D.Synytsya was the head of it since 1998 till 2000. Since 2001 the Council is headed by the Director of the Institute Academician M.O.Lozinskii. The positions of Academic Secretary for 40 years (1963-2003) have been taken by Professors I.V.Smirnov-Zamkov, K.S.Levchenko, A.Ya.Ilchenko, N.G.Feschenko. In 2004 Dr. M.V.Vovk was appointed to this position.
The Order of HAC of Ukraine of 21.03.2007 started existing of modern Council, it consists of the most competent scientists in organic chemistry (16 Doctors of Chemistry, one Academician and one Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine among them) and organo-element compounds chemistry (8 Doctors of Chemistry). Academician M.O.Lozinskii is appointed the Head of the Council, his Deputies are Professors Shermolovich Yu.G. and Synystya A.D., Academic Secretary is Dr.Vovk M.V. The Members of the Council are as follows: Professors A.Ya.Ilchenko, V.I.Kalchenko, V.O.Kovtunenko, V.D.Orlov, O.M.Pinchuk, Yu.O.Serguchev, V.I.Staninets, O.I.Tolmachev, L.M.Yagupolskii, Yu.L.Yagupolskii; Doctors Ya.G.Balion, Yu.G.Gevaza, S.P.Ivonin, O.O.Ischenko, L.O.Kachkovskii, I.V.Komarov, V.Yu.Pashinnink, A.O.Tolmachev, O.M.Chernega.
In the period of the Council existence more than 340 Doctor’s Candidate’s Thesis have been defended there. For the last 17 years there have been defended 116 Candidate’s Thesis (85 on organic chemistry and 31 on organo-element compounds chemistry) and 20 Doctor’s Thesis (14 on organic chemistry and 6 on organo-element compounds chemistry).
