The scientific library of the Institute is the basic library on organic chemistry in the Ukraine. It was founded in 1939 as a library of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology of the Ukr.SSr Academy of Sciences. Its unique collection includes 144 thousand of books, monographs and journals, 95 thousand of them are of foreign origin, including 18 000 books.
The library posesses the full set of “Chemical Abstracts” (since 1930), “Chemische Zentralblatt” (since 1910), more than 600 volumes of “Gmelin Handbuch der Anorganischen Chemie”, reference issue “Beilsteine Handbuch der Organischen Chemie” and collection “Methoden der Organischen Chemie” “Houben Weyl”, sets of journals “Berischte der Deutschen Chemischen Gesselschaft “ since the first edition (1888), “Journal of the Chemical Society” (London) (since 1901), “Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France” (since 1886), “Journal of Russian Chemical Society” (since 1873), the full set of volumes of “Organic Synthesis” and “Organic Reactions”.
The library subscribes the following journals:
- “European Journal of Organic Chemistry”, “Chem.Inform Dienst”, “Angewandte Chemie”, “Synthesis”, “Synlett”;
- of the American Chemical Society: “Journal of the American Chemical Society” (since 1920), “Chemical Reviews”, “Journal of Organic Chemistry”, “Journal of Medicinal Chemistry”, “Organic Letters”, “Journal of Combinatorial Chemistry”;
- of the Chemical Society of Great Britain: “Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry”;
- of the Russian Academy of Sciences: “Journal of General Chemistry”, “Journal of Organic Chemistry”, Reports of RASc, News of RASc., “Successes of Chemistry”;
- “Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds”;
- Ukrainian chemical journals.
The scientific associates of research enterprises and higher schools of Kyiv and scientific centers all over Ukraine also from the former NIS countries have the opportunity to use the library of the Institute.
The access to the books fund of the library is free.
